Whether you’re a seasoned veteran or you’re just beginning to learn about and experience all that archery has to offer, you always need to make sure you have the right supplies for any activity. Where you buy your bow is typically going to carry a lot of different supplies, but knowing which type to purchase is ultimately about what you enjoy doing most.

Which Activity Do You Enjoy?

What’s great about a sport like archery is that there are a number of ways that people can practice and actually go about performing. Some people might be more privy to practicing on a range or engaging in competitive archery. Others are going to find more enjoyment out of bowhunting, and of course there are going to be those who do both! How you like to use your bow and arrow is going to dictate a lot in terms what additional equipment and supplies you need to invest in. if you’re new to the sport, definitely talk to an expert at a retailer who can provide some direction, and help you understand more about the pieces you need to enjoy your experience the most.

Backup Bowstrings

Regardless of what you’re doing, one thing that you should never with be without is at least one extra set of bowstrings. Although most bows you purchase will come with a default set of strings, there are specially manufactured ones available that last longer, improve accuracy, and can significantly enhance your entire experience. When you’re trying to find some new bowstrings to invest in, there are a few key traits that you need to be on the lookout for. The manufacturer you purchase the string from should be able to guarantee things like equal twist throughout, and no peep rotation. Any company you purchase from that can’t even offer these as a minimum should lead you to look elsewhere  for quality bowstrings.

Ways To Increase Equipment Durability

In addition to those extra bowstrings, you also want to do everything you can to ensure that they stay are strong as possible over the longest period of time. There are a few different types of archery supplies that lend themselves to this. Firstly, you should always have bowstring wax are part of your kit, no matter where you go or what you’re doing. When rubbed into the bowstring, it helps keep the various fibers together, meaning the string will stay together (and stronger) for longer. This really does help more in cold weather when there might be more tension on the strings. Also, many people who perform archery use some type of grip on the string to help with their drawback. The more mechanical based devices are useful for your shot, but unfortunately they put a lot of stress on your string and can interfere with its structure. Instead, consider using D-loop material, which can also be used to help with drawback, but doesn’t put nearly as much tension on the string meaning it will be useful much longer.
